Russia today released footage of its giant warships being sent to the Black Sea in support of the border crisis with Ukraine.
Moscow said the deployments come at a time when it expects a response after talks with the US on efforts to reduce the risk of military conflict.
She said 20 warships and naval support vehicles had been sent to maneuver in the Black Sea amid tensions with NATO in Eastern Europe.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed today that the military group, which includes frigates, missile ships, minesweepers and amphibious vehicles, had departed from the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk on the southern coast of the country.
A video released by the military showed some of the newest warships taking part, such as the Admiral Essen frigate, which joined the fleet in 2016, or the Corvette Ingushetia, which launched voyages in 2019.
The maneuvers on the European side are taking place at the same time as those of the northern fleet in the Barents Sea.
NATO has also launched its maneuvers called Neptune Strike 2022, which launched Monday in the Mediterranean, involving USS Harry S. Truman and the accompanying group.
