As today 2 years ago, the first patient with Covid-19 is identified and together with his contact is admitted to the premises of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, which had previously become a hospital to receive Covid patients.
Officially, Albania enters the map of countries affected by the Covid-19 virus, which then caused a worldwide pandemic and in the Infectious Diseases Hospital all the capacities were filled, even the patients were admitted even more than this hospital actually holds.
But what happens today?
“Today, after 2 years, there is a lower number of patients. “You see, there are a lot of empty beds here, which means not that we are without patients at all, but compared to the rest that these beds have been filled every day and every hour.” said Dr. Najada Çomo.
Question: How long have you been in the hospital?
Patients: 17 days, I am alive thanks to these. I have not been vaccinated. I am against vax, but with this mindset that I am today, I would have been vaccinated. I was very heavy and now thank God…
Najada Çomo: We have patients on three floors, their condition is moderate, severe and very severe. Dominated by those persons who have not been vaccinated where the youngest age is 40 years old who is in a very serious medical condition. After 2 years we have 44 patients.
Question: How many has reached the largest number of patients you have treated?
Najada Çomo: Our hospital increased from 80 beds to 120 and later to 140 beds.
As the pandemic is coming to an end, in 2 years we have lost 3483 people, among them 50 doctors. There are others who have lost their lives from the complications caused by the Covid-19 virus but outside people have forgotten that the virus still exists, while doctors continue to appeal: Those who have not been vaccinated yet, order as soon as possible.
