Former director of the Concentrated Purchasing Agency at the Ministry of Interior, Edlira Naqellari, under investigation for the uniform tender scandal was released from prison this Thursday.
The Special Court against Crime and Corruption issued a ruling in December on ten Interior Ministry officials accused of bidding on uniforms.
The former director of the Concentrated Purchasing Agency at the Ministry of Interior, Edlira Naqellari, was sentenced to one year in prison together with Flutura Çekrez, while Kreshnik Bejkaj, Fatmir Demneri and Maringlen Buzali were sentenced to 10 months each.
Anisa Bogdani, Ani Omuri, Aurora Mulla, Klevis Hasani and Gëzim Mingaj were released on bail.
The court ruled that the citizen Klevis Hasani is obliged to perform 80 hours of work in the public interest and this work must be performed within a period of 6 months from the day of the final decision.
These persons find it impossible to exercise public functions for a term of 5 years.
Ten officials were arrested for abuses with the 2.8 billion ALL tender of State Police uniforms, who were accused of “abuse of duty” and “violation of equality in tenders”.
Abuses with the tender of the uniforms of the Ministry of Interior have been ascertained in relation to the quality, quantity and price of the uniforms.
As part of the investigation to uncover this corrupt affair, it turns out that the SPAK is assisted by two persons who agreed to cooperate with justice.
One of the evidences is the merger of the two tenders, that of production and distribution of shoes, with that of clothing, which has limited the opportunity for more than one company to participate in the competition.
The tender for the uniforms was given at the time when the Minister of Interior was Sander Lleshaj, while the abuse was reported to SPAK by the former MP Myslim Murrizi in 2020.
