Former Vitesse Arnhem player Thomas Bruns, in an interview with Dutch newspaper Voetbal, said he believes former team-mate and current Chelsea star Armando Broja could join the first team within four years.
Broja spent last season on loan at Vitesse with Bruns, and the latter believes that Broja has what it takes to replace Chelsea’s main striker, Romelu Lukaku in a few years.
“I think he can reach the first team at Chelsea in four years. This is his goal. They will need a new striker anyway. “I think Broja can do it,” said Bruns.
Broja’s dreams of playing for Stamford Bridge are currently blocked by Lukaku, who is apparently the first choice for coach Thomas Tuchel in his Chelsea squad.
However, this season the Belgian striker has been seen suffering in front of goal and lacking confidence for a long-term future at the club. Many Chelsea academy players have been transferred from the age group to the first team, such as: Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Andreas Christensen. There is therefore no reason not to believe that Broja can not join this list if he maintains this level of performance.
Bruns admitted that Broja sees Chelsea star Mason Mount as his inspiration to join the first team. There is no doubt that Broja’s performance has improved throughout the season, thrilling Chelsea fans and raising expectations for him. With Lukaku’s not in good form, they hope Broja finds a place in Tuchel’s plans for next season.
