“Cities with castles” arrived in Gjirokastra in its second edition. The event is a cultural cooperation between Gjirokastra and Elbasan, cities that unite historical and architectural elements where in the center are forts, one hilly and the other plain.
The ensemble “Isuf Myzyri”, tenor Kastriot Tusha, the Zena brothers and young musicians became part of the atmosphere of the evening.
Part of the joint celebration was a photo exhibition, a documentary and an exhibition on painting. The painter from Elbasan Gazmend Kafa said that the works are part of his experiences on the birthplace, tradition and urban landscapes.
Blendi Gremi, director of culture at the Elbasan Regional Council, recounted the efforts of both cities to turn this event into an annual event that connects all cities with castles.
“Cities with castles” started in 2019 as an initiative to get to know each other through art, music, architecture, history, photography. In the first edition of the event, rare photos of the shooting of the movie “Skanderbeg” are exhibited, which unite more than two cities with castles.
