The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi spoke to Top Channel about the difficult situation caused by the weather conditions in Shosh and Pult, where the commissioners were blocked by snow and the voting process has not yet started in some polling stations.
Celibashi said they are monitoring the situation while the commissioners should not risk their lives.
Celibashi: No voting is taking place due to the inability of commissioners to go to the polls. In Vora and everywhere else, the voting process is normal and without significant problems, but we are still monitoring and following this situation. I keep in mind that even in the previous elections there was tension and then things start to calm down and relax, hoping that this trend will continue.
Among other things, Celibashi said that the process in the municipality of Shkodra will be considered legal if the process starts within 13:00.
Celibashi: The voting process continues in all other polling stations. Even in Shosh if the voting process starts no more than 5 hours, the process is valid, so if it starts within 1 hour, it is considered legal.
It is under their right and responsibility to decide whether or not to start the voting process due to atmospheric conditions. There can be no imposition from the CEC more than they know the situation better than we do. From what we have seen, the situation is really very difficult and the lives of the commissioners should not be endangered. I would personally advise them to show all care for this issue. They have no reason to risk their lives.
