The State Police announces that the police structures throughout the country continue with reinforced services, in order to guarantee order and safety during the holidays, to prevent possible criminal events, as well as to prevent road accidents.
Across the country, on interurban, urban, but also rural roads, police services continue to increase controls, using smart cars, drones, radars, alcohol testers, cameras and unloaded vehicles, in order to prevent road accidents.
During the night of the change of years and the first two days of the new year, no road accident was identified with serious consequences for life, no serious criminal event was identified, no person was seriously injured by the use of fireworks and no physical conflict with serious consequences for life has been identified.
This is thanks to the measures taken by the State Police, but also to the citizens shown, as most of the citizens have responded to the appeal of the Police, not to use fireworks, not to drive the vehicle drunk during the holidays, but to use public transport, as well as to avoid conflicts after the use of alcohol during the holidays.
Due to the high influx of vehicles, most of which today have moved towards coastal and tourist areas, the Traffic Police in all national axes has increased the presence and logistical means at its disposal to monitor road traffic. .
In this context, the Police appeals once again to all drivers to strictly follow the rules of the road, to maintain distance, not to speed by making wrong overtaking or to drive faster than the allowed norms, as well as do not drive under the influence of alcohol or in a drunken state, do not use the mobile phone while driving, fasten the seat belt, as all road axes are monitored by the Traffic Police patrols that are moving with unpaved vehicles, are monitored by radar, drones, cameras and photographic apparatus.
The State Police clarifies to all citizens that the curfew is in force after January 1 and appeals to all administrators of the premises to respect the anticovid measures and the schedule set for the exercise of the activity.
