Dozens of artists and thousands of Greek citizens gathered in Athens’ Propylea Square on Tuesday evening and sang about peace in a grand anti-war concert in Ukraine.
Natassa Bofilou: We are here today to sing for peace. The peace that so much offends, so much makes guilty… But you know? They have no problem with the word Peace. They care for those who accompany peace, which are Freedom, Equality, Brotherhood.
There were over 40 artists of Greek song among them prominent names such as Georgos Dalaras, Glykeria, Manolis Mitsias, Eleni Tsaligkopoulou, Pegki Zina etc.
Banners read: “Stop the Russian occupation of Ukraine now, let the weapons be silent. Solidarity with refugees. Solidarity with the Ukrainian people “Citizens of all ages have unanimously expressed their stance on the war. The peace concert was organized by the left-wing Solidarity for All association and was also promoted by activists, human rights groups and Greek artists.
Participants: Today we are here to show our solidarity with deeds and to convey a clear message against the war. The only solution and answer is only peace and solidarity of the peoples.
The concert was attended by a large number of MPs from the opposition party Syriza, and even its leader Alexis Tsipras, but also other members of left-wing parties.
The concert has brought a great reaction on social media with criticism for traditional media that were accused by most users on social networks, that they did not properly cover this concert that took on the colors of a protest against the policies of Prime Minister Mitsotakis, holding again according to them, pro-government attitude.
