Athletes will now receive rewards under international regulations, according to Education and Sports Minister Evis Kushi.
At the end of the government meeting, Kushi stated to the media that some changes have been approved in the criteria and treatment that benefit high level athletes.
“The goal is to offer the best possible conditions and to have the highest possible results in competitions. The amount of the reward will be according to international regulations “.
The Minister of Education focused specifically on weightlifting, where our country has recognized a champion over the years, while a week ago Briken Çalja was declared world runner-up in Ukraine.
“For the first time, medalist athletes will be rewarded for all competitions, not just doubles“, Kushi explained.
“Reward measures are provided according to the results packages in each of the Balkan, European or world championships. We have provided in some recent provisions that even those athletes who have gained high level status during these months, immediately after the entry into force of the law to be treated according to this decision. That means Briken Çalja who was declared champion will be rewarded according to the same as other European or world weightlifters, according to international standards and regulations for the first time “.
