The structures of the Customs Administration in cooperation with the Prosecution and the State Police, have successfully concretized the crackdown on a fraud-smuggling scheme, in the import of medicines, imported in the Albanian customs territory as humanitarian aid, in the port of Durrës.
Based on the risk analysis, the customs authorities exercised control over the vehicle with license plates AA249NN, which showed that in addition to the declared goods, there was also a quantity of medicines of 1950 kg or 8793 boxes of different medicines, which amount to 119 thousand euros. . These drugs did not have the relevant documentation for their import into Albanian territory, so they were seized.
The value of evaded customs duties for the goods described above amounts to ALL 2,979,455, while the penalty for the value of evaded duties is in the amount of ALL 8,938,365. In total, the amount of customs duties and evaded penalties is 11,917,820 ALL.
