The price at which 7440 businesses connected in medium voltage 20,10,6 kilowatts will pay for energy in January is 18.8 ALL.
The Energy Regulatory Entity has received the proposal of the Electricity Distribution Operator for the January tariff, while this will be subject to review every month. This price is within the margin declared earlier by the ministry during discussions with stakeholders where he underlined that the fluctuation would be between 18-22 ALL / kWh. Medium voltage business is being treated with preferential prices that are the product of average purchases from the Albanian Electricity Corporation with 12 lek / kWh and free market purchases that are at best 3-4 times more expensive than the agreement with the manufacturer public.
The government decided to make partial liberalization for this business group in the conditions when the business associations expressed their concern that they would go bankrupt if they were put on the free market at the moment. Partial liberalism means that these businesses are being supplied by public companies at preferential prices but not regulated while at any moment each of them securing a deal with a better priced private supplier can freely leave the public supplier.
The government has agreed to keep 7440 businesses in this mode until June this year in the hope that energy prices will fall thus paving the way for their entry into the free market but if prices continue to remain high it is curved continuation of this regime.
Meanwhile other businesses that have previously appeared on the free market such as those at 35 kilovolts are continuing to be supplied with real prices resulting from auctions which are significantly higher. The month with the most expensive tariffs so far has resulted in November with a tariff of 38.7 ALL / kWh while in December there was a slight reduction of this price, stabilizing at 31.7 ALL.
Energy prices have experienced a rapid increase since September this year, reaching levels that were not before, while in addition to the increase in post-pandemic demand, a number of other factors also influenced the way to the long low prices, and as assessed by experts in international markets beyond 2022./ Monitor
