The new government of the broad coalition in Bulgaria was voted yesterday by the parliament and took the oath, led by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.
His new party “Continue Change” won the majority of votes in the November 14 general election in one of the poorest countries in the EU.
Announcing his cabinet, former businessman Petkov said he would “not miss a minute” to get the cabinet approved by parliament.
The 41-year-old prime minister introduced his ministers, who were also “young professionals with experience abroad or in business circles.”
Two elections in April and July in Bulgaria brought a fragmented parliament without being able to form a cabinet.
Petkov is believed to have received the votes of disappointed citizens, lured by his platform with the motto “zero tolerance for corruption”.
The new government puts an end to almost ten years of domination of the center-left GERB party of former “bodyguard” Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
