The Bulgarian opposition has paved the way for the lifting of the veto on northern Macedonia, after its leader made his votes available.
The news was announced by Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, who called it a historic decision for Europe.
““We thank the opposition leader Gerb @BoykoBorissov for making a historic decision for Europe and for accepting the negotiations with Northern Macedonia based on the French proposal that allows the continuation of the opening of membership negotiations with Northern Macedonia”, writes Varhelyi on Twitter.
