Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi welcomes the vote in the Bulgarian parliament to lift the veto on northern Macedonia.
In a twitter post, Varhelyi stresses that the EU decision to hold the first intergovernmental conference with Northern Macedonia and Albania is now awaited.
“We welcome the inter-party decision of the Bulgarian parliament which gives a clear mandate for the approval of the French proposal. Now we need the EU decision to hold the first intergovernmental conference with Northern Macedonia and Albania. Europe is moving forward! ” – said Varhelyi.
The decision in the Bulgarian parliament was approved today with 170 votes in favor and 37 against in the 240-member parliament
