Bulgaria can replace all of its Russian gas supplies from other sources and will not face gas shortages next winter, Deputy Prime Minister Assen Vasilev said on Thursday.
Russia’s Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland on Wednesday for refusing to pay in rubles.
Bulgaria consumes about 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year, of which over 90 per cent comes from Russia.
“We can replace all Russian gas supplies with gas supplies from the southern gas corridor, plus LNG shipments to Greece and Turkey, and this plan is being implemented now,” Vassilev, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs, told reporters in Brussels. Finance.
