A police officer on duty has been arrested in Britain on suspicion of violating public morals after he was shot performing a sexual act on a park bench.
London Police Metropolitan Police said she was ‘absolutely horrified and saddened’ by the incident, which was announced by members posted around noon Wednesday.
The community support officer of the Roads and Transportation Command has been taken into custody.
In a video that has already gone viral on social media, the policeman is seen sitting on a green park bench in his uniform, which is believed to be somewhere in the south of London.
He then checks behind his shoulders if anyone is looking at him, before starting to see something on his cellphone and perform the sexual act.
The incident was filmed by a member of the public who initially spoke to the officer to reprimand him for the actions and then obtained his identification number to pursue the matter.
Police said investigators had been working overnight to identify the officer, who was arrested the next morning.
Commander Kyle Gordon, said: “I understand that everyone is shocked by this video, we too are shocked and saddened by incidents like this, as we are people and human staff. “Things like this run counter to everything we represent.”
Gordon added that investigators are trying to limit the details that are disseminated to the public and that they will provide more information at the most important stages of the investigation.
