A husband has gone on trial in Britain today for the murder of his 29-year-old wife who was found dead in an area of vegetation days after she disappeared and six months after the birth of their first daughter.
29-year-old Abi Fisher disappeared from her home in the town of Castleford in the north of Britain at midnight on Friday.
Her family said she had not said where she was going when she left, but tragically her body was found on Monday in a grassy area in Brierley.
Her husband Matthew Fisher, also 29, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today charged with murder.
He spoke only to confirm his name and address and was taken into custody.
Primary school teacher Abi married Fisher in 2017 and the pair had a daughter just six months ago with the help of artificial insemination treatment.
Abi’s family paid tribute to the girl with photos of her and her daughter.
They wrote: “Beautiful Abi, we cannot describe the pain of your loss. Heaven has gained an angel but we have suffered an unjust loss. We love you so much”.
A massive search operation was launched for Abi after her “out of character” disappearance on July 8.
Terrified local residents turned out in droves to search for the teacher and issued pleas for information.
The trial continues.
