The legal battle of the son of the Queen of England, Prince Andrew, may cause him to lose his royal titles, as such a thing is no longer a novelty with the “precedent” created by the removal of titles for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, writes e the daily The Sun.
The Kings face growing pressure to remove Andrew from their list of names following allegations of three sexual assaults on Virginia Giuffre when she was 17, on the properties of sex traffickers Jeffrey Epstein and Gislaine Maxwell.
A British royal expert said such a thing was “unlikely” as the removal of the prince’s titles would have to be passed by the British parliament first.
But he suggested that such a thing would not change much from the expected official removal of titles for Harry and Meghan, who were asked not to use the “HRH” royal prefix before their names when leaving royal life.
British commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “If he retires from royal duties, as Meghan and Harry did, it would be a similar precedent.”
The prince so far denies allegations of “sexual slavery” of Jeffrey Epstein but his photos with him and friendship with the pedophile financier who died in prison, has not convinced public opinion.
With the length of the charges and indictment he also faces pressure from the British military to resign from military titles.
Fitzwilliams added: “What can happen to Andrew is a form of internal exile, for example to manage royal estates or something.”
“He would lose ties to charities and military ranks.”
Nigel Cawthorne, author of “Prince Andrew: Epstein, Maxwell and the Palace,” has previously said that it would be very difficult for the prince to return to the main front of the monarchy.
He told the network Newsweek: “Giuffre’s lawsuit prevents them return to public office.
“There are many legal issues that prevent him from maintaining his status with titles like HRH.”
