The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced that the first patient with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has lost his life.
“Unfortunately, yes, Omicron cases are being hospitalized and it has been confirmed that at least one person with Omicron has died,” Johnson said in a statement during a visit to a vaccination clinic near the Paddington area of west London.
He has drawn attention to the importance of booster vaccines in the fight against the Omicron variant. “In my opinion, the opinion that the virus is an easier version should be put aside and we should be aware that it is only accelerating within the population. “That’s why the best thing we can do is get all the booster vaccines.”

Britain, with 170 thousand deaths is in the position of the country where the most deaths were recorded with COVID-19 source in Europe.
