Britain will send about 8,000 troops to Eastern Europe, which according to Defense Minister Ben Wallace (Wallis) will demonstrate solidarity and strength as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues.
The British deployment of nearly 8,000 troops over the next three months marks the largest British military engagement since the Cold War.
They will take part in major military maneuvers by NATO and allies and will be deployed from Finland to northern Macedonia. It remains to be seen whether these troops will continue to remain in Eastern Europe following these maneuvers that are likely to take place mostly in Poland.
A large number of tanks and over 100 heavy combat vehicles will be sent to various countries as part of plans which take on a special significance in the conditions of the war in Ukraine and the Russian threats.
These British troops will join thousands of troops from NATO countries and the Allied Joint Expeditionary Force, including countries such as Denmark, Iceland and Norway.
“Europe’s security has never been more important than it is today,” said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
The maneuvers are expected to include parachuting troops and launching attack helicopters from Challanger2 attack tanks.
Clearly these deployments are aimed at deterring Russian and Vladimir Putin aggression from entering into a new conflict.
Western powers are trying to demonstrate that their support and determination is not diminishing.
But the opposite is happening, as the conflict in Ukraine enters its third month, and according to the British it could last for years.
