Britain introduced a new package of financial and trade sanctions against Russia following the unprovoked invasion of its neighbor, Ukraine.
The announcement, published on the UK government’s official website on 23 June, outlines the new restrictions, which include a blockade on exports of goods and technological equipment, the export of aircraft fuel and the use of pounds and euros in Russia.
The list of prohibited products includes technological goods and equipment that can be used for the production of biological and chemical weapons, additional oil refining products and technologies, as well as critical industry products and technologies.
The decision prohibits the import, purchase or supply and delivery of goods originating in or sent from Russia that may generate revenue.
Further restrictions are also provided on the provision of technical assistance, financial services, funds and intermediation services in connection with iron and steel imports.
Sanctions impose restrictions on the import, purchase or supply and distribution of goods that generate revenue originating in or shipped from Russia, as well as technical assistance, financial services, funds and intermediation services.
Some of the new restrictive measures apply to both Russian and Ukrainian territories under the control of Moscow-backed separatists.
