Agriculture is part of national security. So said the SP MP, Erion Brace in parliament.
According to him, in order for the crop areas to be increased, the sweat of the Albanian farmer should not be appreciated by the big traders, or as he calls them Brace, by the predators of agriculture. The price of agricultural products must be transparent to the farmer, consumer and trader, and for that there is a way to achieve it.
“Albanian agriculture needs scholarships, and it needs it now. In order for the farmer to take his toil and sweat”.
The Albanian farmer from year to year is planting less and less cereals, and the reasons why the lands are remaining barren are the big traders who want to buy local wheat for 15 lek cheaper than the wheat from Serbia and Russia.
“To reduce the dependence on imports and to produce in the country at better prices. The wheat that stayed on the ground for 8 months took effort and sacrifice and expenses without any kind of subsidy yesterday in Tërbuf cost only 36 lekë. 4-7 lek with loss. What can I say to those farmers over there when I look at the bill of one of the four big ones who import wheat in this country and who brings it from Serbia with 345 euros per ton and in the end it costs 51 lek, do you see the difference or not? . While they have wheat in Tërbuf and they can buy it for 42 lekë. “How is it possible that no one is listening?”
But it is not just wheat wholesalers who buy cheap local produce. The same situation is observed in the collection points of fruits and vegetables.
It’s fundamental because woe is happening down there. The tomato that is on the plate today costs only 30 lek per kilogram. That onion costs only 20 lek. ”
The farmer will breathe freely when the fear that his agricultural production may end up in the canal due to lack of market goes away.
These sights can become a thing of the past if you stop telling those traders who buy cheap fruits and vegetables from the farmer and sell them expensively to the consumer.
“The potato that we go, we dig there with our hands and pretend that we are picking it, it costs only 22 lekë ”.
This comment by Brace seemed to describe the actions of the Minister of Agriculture, Frida Krifca. Brace’s speech was accompanied by applause from the opposition.
