A box of human remains believed to be used for medical research has been strangely stolen from a medical truck in Denver, Colorado, U.S. authorities announced.
Police said the unexplained incident with the macabre objects happened at noon on Thursday when someone forcibly entered the body of the truck on 23rd Avenue.
The suspect had left with a wheelbarrow and a box of human remains which according to the authorities were being transported for scientific research.
Sources told the network KDVR / KWGN that the box had a human head and that the label read “Science Care”. “Science Care” is actually a program in the US in which people donate their body after death for study or research by science.
The box was made of strong cardboard and weighed about 30 cm3.
It is not yet clear why the particular truck was targeted or whether the culprits knew the macabre contents of the box they stole.
Residents told the media it was shocking to hear of a horror theft in their quiet area.
No arrests have been made yet and police investigations are ongoing.
