As fighting erupts in Ukraine, Boris Johnson told lawmakers in Westminster today that the UK government’s priorities must be long-term as they face the economic shocks of Russian aggression.
Johnson said he was addressing the impact of energy prices and other bills on British households and vowed to ‘fight’ to end Britain’s dependence on Russian gas and oil.
He says government support for families in distress will help end Putin’s oil and gas dependence and ensure that energy is cheaper in the long run.
Johnson said he would make British energy greener, more affordable and more secure by joining allies to counter Putin’s aggression.
