Long lines of people are gathering at London airports as mysterious cancellations of holiday flights follow, justified by the “lack of staff” by officials.
The scenes of people spending the night at Stanstead Airport in London waiting for the nearest flight were described by the media as “bodies lying on the floor, like after a massacre”.
While from the other airport of the capital Heathrow came views of the ‘mountain’ of accumulated luggage awaiting processing.
Labor opposition official David Lammy was also left in the middle of the chaos, urging his 780,000 followers to raise awareness about the issue.
He said: “Another morning, another terrible queue at the airport security. This time at Stanstead. “Congratulations to Boris Johnson and Patel,” he said, referring to the prime minister and interior minister.
In addition to queues at check-in, passengers also complained about several-day flight delays that affected many people.
Economic flights company Ryanair was flying from Stansted Airport – but customers complained of poor service and long delays before boarding.
A Stansted airport spokesman said: “We now also have passengers arriving the night before to travel on the first wave of flights.”
