The candidate for chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, emphasized during the meeting with the supporters in Lezha that the direction of the party is only towards the European Union.
He said he would not allow Prime Minister Edi Rama to move Albania to Belgrade or Istanbul.
“We are a movement, we became a party because we were a movement. I called it revolution. Whatever you want to call it, but today we have managed to re-establish the party because we started as a movement, strong, unstoppable. Now again, as a democratic party, we must be the nucleus of this movement that we must do everything to unite every Albanian who trusts Albania. If we set ourselves the goal, first of all, to lift Albanians out of poverty. Poverty is a punishment for Albanians. It was 35% went down by 12%. Misery was 4%, dropped to 1.3% and would disappear. Absolutely, because we facilitated the business. We created the business climate, we doubled salaries, pensions. “Our train to Europe and the Euro-Atlantic train did not stop.” he said.
Berisha said that Edi Rama has not achieved anything in eight years of government.
“We joined NATO, we abolished visas, we got the status. Do not forget that Edi Rama blocked the status with three laws, with three councilors of Fier. What happened these 8 years? Nothing. Now he comes out and says in Brussels that if they do not give it to them, they will change direction. I am telling him here that the direction should not be moved by a millimeter because our direction will be the European Union. He will not move Albania either to Belgrade or Istanbul, but to the dignity of Albanians“, Said Berisha.
