Belgian police have raided an illegal drug lab producing illegal drugs inside an air base housing part of the US nuclear arsenal in Europe.
Citing the spokesman for the Belgian provincial prosecutor’s office Limburg, the media added that two civilians unrelated to military operations had been arrested for producing synthetic drugs such as ecstasy or MDMA.
The Kleine-Brogel base in northeastern Belgium is known for storing US thermonuclear weapons.
Belgian officials do not talk about it often but confirmed it in the 1980s. In 2019, a local Green MP said that the US holds about 20 nuclear warheads.
Prosecutors said local police had discovered the lab on military soil on June 22, which was then dismantled by specialist officers.
