The Democratic Party has filed a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court against the decision of the Assembly not to accept the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the “Becchetti” case, hoping that the Constitutional Court will declare in their favor to continue the parliamentary investigation on this issue.
This Thursday, the Constitutional Court questioned the representatives of the Democratic Party, regarding the way in which the Albanian state was defended, whether it could be an object of an investigative commission.
One of the representatives, Marash Logu, said that the DP wants the procedure of implementing the laws that led to arbitration, adding that they want to understand how the state bodies have implemented the laws.
“The facts presented suggest that there have been activities of bodies that have influenced, bringing economic damage to the state, we want to understand the damage and review the measures and changes in legislation. What the Assembly needs to understand, through this committee, is what the consequences are. The unconstitutionality of this decision of the Assembly has made no effort“, Said Logu.
Constitutional Court: Do you know if the recognition of the arbitral award has started?
PD: No we do not know.
constitutional Court: In the jurisprudence of the CC it is stated that an issue must have a constitutional meaning, so there must be a fact.
PD: In the arbitration decision we believe that there are sufficient facts, our request for the establishment of a commission is based on concrete issues and there are data that public bodies have not only harmed the state budget, but have also hindered foreign investment in the country.
The Democratic Party submitted to the Constitutional Court a lawsuit against the decision of the Assembly not to establish a Commission of Inquiry into the ‘Becchetti’ case.
In a statement to the media at the time, Grida Duma accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being afraid to investigate the matter, making him responsible for the 120m-euro compensation that the Albanian state must pay Becchetti, by decision of international arbitration court.
Duma emphasizes that the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry does not need the approval of any political force, emphasizing that the DP will go to the end of this issue.
