Lulzim Basha has resigned from the post of DP chairman. Article 46 of the statute stipulates that one of the vice-presidents will take over the leadership of the Democratic Party until the election of a new president.
Article 46:
1. The Chairman of the Party chairs the central bodies of the Party and ensures the implementation of their decisions. He represents the Party in all public and political activities, domestic and international.
2. The Chairman of the Party is elected by voting of all members of the DPA, according to the principle “One member, One vote”. The modalities of the process are defined in the by-laws.
3. The Chairman of the Party is assisted by the Vice-Chairmen and the General Secretary. The Chairman of the Party, depending on the specific problems or issues, may set up auxiliary structures or appoint coordinators or delegates, who deal with their review and resolution, or direct the charged process.
4. The Chairman of the Party during his daily activity assigns certain tasks and areas of responsibility to the Vice Presidents of the Party. In the extended absence of the chairman and with his authorization, one of them replaces the Chairman. In the absence of such authorization, including in cases of resignation of the Chairman, the Secretary-General shall convene the National Council, which shall command the Vice-Chairman who will lead the Party until the incumbent returns or a new Chairman is elected.
5. The Chairman of the Party, in fulfillment of his functions and guaranteeing the progress of the work in the party, issues orders and instructions, based on and for the implementation of this Statute, as well as the decisions of the governing bodies of the Party.
