The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha reacted after the National Council approved the resolution, which states that the Assembly convened yesterday by Sali Berisha is null.
After the adoption of the resolution, Basha published the full resolution, while emphasizing that the Assembly of December 18 will choose the future, to turn the DP into the governing force.
“The National Council of the Democratic Party spoke clearly. The National Assembly will speak even more clearly on # 18December. “We will choose the future, in defense of the sacred values of the Democratic Party and to turn it into the governing force that Albanians deserve,” Basha wrote.
A day after Sali Berisha convened the Assembly, the National Council considered Berisha’s move as anti-statutory and was an attempt to delegitimize the Democratic Party institutions until its dissolution as the most pro-Western force in the country.
In this resolution, the Assembly of December 11 and all the decisions taken by it are considered null and void, while the resolution affirms that the National Assembly of December 18 is the only legitimate and comprehensive Assembly of Democrats.
It is also noted that the rally forged and used the symbols and logos of the Democratic Party in flagrant violation of statutory and legal norms.
The meeting of the National Council was attended by 290 members out of about 480 in total, while after the adoption of the resolution, a secret ballot was held to dismiss the names that were proposed the day before by the leadership of the Democratic Party.
