The works for the construction of the Orikum-Dukat road axis continue along its entire length. In the area of Orikum, where this axis starts, asphalt layers are being laid to prevent the circulation of vehicles, while in the area of Dukati, the works will not create inconveniences for drivers who will travel to the coast of south.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Evis Berberi, closely inspected the works. So far, 34% of the works have been completed, while currently work is being done on four fronts.
The director of ARA announced details regarding the pace of works. “We are working in parallel on 4 fronts, because to speed up the work we have chosen to divide this segment into four smaller segments, in such a way as to work in parallel on several fronts. We had different typologies of works. So far we have reached 34% of the construction works of this contract. The forecasts are good. “We are walking at a satisfactory pace and we believe that for the summer season we will have at least the first kilometers paved until the exit of the turn of the new track”, declared Berberi.
Minister Balluku requested that the works for the construction of this road axis do not create obstacles for the circulation of vehicles, especially during the summer season, where a high influx of local and foreign vacationers is expected. Balluku said that also during the weekend, when the flow of vehicles heading to the south coast is higher, works should be avoided which could create vehicle traffic.
“We must not forget that in the summer season we have the problem of heavy traffic and certainly do not want to disturb all drivers and all visitors. So, during the summer season, regarding this work, we will work only on the new route, that is, only on following the river bed in the other 3 construction sites that are functional “, underlined Balluku.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy said that the Vlora bypass, as well as the segments of the Orikum-Dukat axis, which are part of the existing road, should be ready and open for the circulation of vehicles with the start of the tourist season.
“At the moment we are moving fast to close with the conglomerate layer until the beginning of the part of the new trail, which, as you said, follows the river trail, ie the river bed. All these together, ie the Vlora bypass, the part of the trail that we are inspecting today and the small bypass that we have made at the entrance of the tunnel pipes, will be all ready to be used by citizens and visitors of the south starting from the first week of July “, said Balluku.
On their part, the representatives of the company guaranteed that during the season, the works of Orikum-Dukat will focus on the tracks, thus not creating any problems for the circulation of vehicles.
