In the Vlora bypass is to make possible the full completion of the work by opening it for vehicle traffic at the beginning of this year’s tourist season. Currently, the works are concentrated in the area of Kanina, which has also been the area where problems related to geology have been identified, but which have already been resolved.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Evis Berberi closely followed the works in this part of the road.
The barber said that this tourist season the bypass will be fully open for vehicle traffic and for this work is being done in parallel at several points.
“Apart from digging and reinforcing the slopes, we have also started with the road layers. At the moment we have the stabilizer layer and very soon the asphalting will start here, in order to walk in parallel with several processes. So, not only excavations, reinforcements, but also the filling of the body of the road and the walking of the asphalt because as we know we have a deadline to catch and this is the right pace to catch that deadline “, said Berberi.
Minister Balluku described the Vlora bypass as a very complex work, but important for the tourism development of the country, which facilitates access to the south coast.
“I am sure that at the end of this work the residents of Kanina, Vlora, but also all visitors to the south will be able to understand the importance of the construction of this bypass and certainly has an importance for the best time short that all drivers will have to access the south, but on the other hand to move all traffic from the center of Vlora where long queues were created, but also problems for businesses which are located in Lungomare, but even more further “, declared Balluku.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy requested maximum commitment for the complete completion of the work in the next two months, making it accessible to all drivers in the first week of July when the tourist season begins.
“We no longer have the opportunity to postpone the time or the deadlines. Must be completed under contract. I expect that in the first week of July, as today two months, we will have the opportunity to access this road officially and completed. “Certainly no one doubts that there will be small tests that will happen in terms of slopes or partitions, however the road should be in bed all finished with carpets, signage and everything else,” Balluku underlined.
The Vlora bypass has a length of 29 kilometers. Some works of art are also part of the project.
