Zv. The Minister of Agriculture, Ermira Gjeçi in a communication to the media said that the destruction of dead chickens from bird flu in the country continues.
Gjeçi said that so far 340 thousand chickens have been reported dead, while there are 120 thousand infected chickens that are expected to be destroyed. She said that measures have been taken in all affected countries.
“Sealing the area, material base for veterinarians, monitoring throughout Albania. The service is leading survival on all farms. We are on alert that the National Food Committee is on the ground to guarantee products of animal origin. We have confirmed that the whole process has been done in accordance with the legislation “, said Gjeçi.
According to the minister, there is no danger for consumers and that the only thing we should be afraid of is reducing the number of chickens.
“There are capacities to bury them, we are in season, we do not claim not to have, there is no panic for the consumer, it is not transmitted through food to the consumer. The burial was divided into two categories. “340 thousand are already dead, 120 thousand are to be destroyed.”
“There are cases in Northern Macedonia and Greece, as soon as we received the notification, the combing plan of the area started to be implemented, a dead pelican was identified in Prespa. “There is no risk for consumers, but there is a reduction in the number of chickens.” said Gjeçi.
In some of the infected areas quarantine rules have been violated and continue to be violated, while it is reported that the ongoing burial process does not conform to the standards required to ensure virus isolation.
Infectious avian influenza disease turns out to be widespread and in the villages around the facilities, where villagers usually buy birds for breeding in their yards.
Avian flu has affected some areas of the country and abroad, in northern Macedonia and Greece.
Durrës is the most affected, where in a few days thousands of chickens have died. A family in Divjaka had 60 chickens killed overnight. Three curly pelicans have been found dead in the lake in the Prespa area.
To avoid the transmission of infection from poultry to humans, it is advisable to purchase the products in licensed sales units and not on the street.
