Since the emergence of cases of bird flu in various European countries, for several weeks, AKU has been on standby and continuous product controls in Albanian markets. The National Food Authority has taken all measures, both on the ground and at the Border Inspection Points, based on the Contingency Plan, approved by the Minister, to monitor and control the situation in compliance with food safety and ensuring consumer health. .
The General Director of AKU, Jeta Deda, in the field with the inspectors, has conveyed security messages to the Albanian consumer. “For 5 weeks, it is continuously monitored and reported on findings in markets, meat shops for traceability, regular documentation, veterinary certificates.” Jeta Deda said that the controls have been intensified since the first appearance of the case of bird flu in Albania. Upon receiving the information from AKVMB, AKU is on the ground to monitor the measures taken by the veterinary service guaranteeing the consumer for the products placed on the market and food safety.
According to the director Jeta Deda, so far, no problematic cases have been identified, both in the documentation and in the labeling of the product, as well as the storage conditions.
AKU assures consumers that foods of poultry origin in the market are within the traceability standards and are verified by inspectors, who are on the ground.
AKU has invited consumers to go to certified points of sale of meat.
