Thousands of people gathered today at a cricket stadium in Sydney for the famous annual celebration “Mardi Gras ‘gay and lesbian'”, where the main performance was made by singer Rita Ora.
Usually the march is done with giant parade on the city streets but the plans were changed this year by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Anyway around 36,000 people took part in the event organized inside the stadium after the special permission given by the authorities, as well as a small march took place on the usual parade route.
The event held today was the 43rd ‘Mardi Gras’ held in the city, described by the organizers as “a great show of culture and the LGBTQI + community”.
The parade in colorful costumes was broadcast on television, with the opening performance by Rita Ora.
Many of the marchers carried political messages in defense of the rights of transgender people and sex workers.
Although in most parts of the world such clumps are unthinkable, the Australian region of New South Wales says there are 48 days without any case of coronavirus.
