Contrary to what was announced the day before, the Greek government has decided to accept that travelers who will enter Greek territory from December 19, in addition to the negative PCR test will also be allowed with rapid test.
The announcement was made by the Greek Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, who claimed that he had sent the relevant circular to the border points, ports and airports of the country.
According to Plevris, it has been decided that travelers can take a rapid test, no earlier than 24 hours before their trip, or a PCR test no earlier than 72 hours before their arrival in Greece.
According to him, this decision was taken not to damage the planning of families who want to spend the holidays in Greece, as according to him the cost of rapid test varies from 10-20 euros, while the PCR test from 50-70 euros, which is estimated to be additional costs for the budget of a medium-sized family.
Plevris said additional measures have been taken at all entry points in the country, increasing the number of personnel conducting anti-Covid tests at the border, in order to increase the entry capacity in the country.
According to him, the country will not have another border closure, but in any case measures will be taken to prevent entry instead of the “Omicron” mutation.
So far 10 people have been diagnosed with this mutation, but the authorities fear that during the holiday period and the increase in the influx of tourists who move for these holidays, will significantly increase the numbers of infections.
