In second place is France with 73,255 asylum applications.
These figures were published in a report by the EU Statistical Agency, Eurostat. According to the media, the number of asylum applications in Germany has increased by 15 percent compared to the same period a year ago. The percentage of claims made in Germany compared to other EU countries has also increased from 24.3 percent in 2020 to 28.4 percent in the same period in 2021.

Most asylum seekers come from Syria (66,145), followed by Afghanistan (53,625) and Iraq (15,775). The figures for asylum applications are also interesting. Between July and September 2021 in the EU were taken a total of 115,025 decisions on asylum applications, most of them in Germany and France.
