The declaration of assets of Greek politicians for 2020 has always provoked numerous reactions.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ statement contains his income as prime minister totaling 116,842 euros with his wife, securities of 140,096 euros, deposits of 534,000 euros, the couple’s real estate shows 40 properties in Crete, Athens and Tinos, while the two continue to repay loans taken from various banks worth 1.3m euros.
The head of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras with his wife, declares income amounting to 90,585 euros, a bank deposit of 97,297 euros, an 114 m2 apartment in Athens since 1996 and a 300 m2 land in Artemida. Commenting on the large loan amount of the Mitsotakis family and not only, the opposition leader Tsipras emphasizes in a twitter post:
“The prime minister and ministers own a total of 829 properties, 17 million deposits and 13 million loans. Can these people feel the anxiety of the citizen who can not pay the bills, the education of the children and can not spend more than a month? ”
Asked about these facts and mainly about the Prime Minister, the government spokesman replied: I do not think there is a politician for whom they have demanded so much in the declaration of wealth as the Prime Minister and his wife, even in the time of the SYRIZA government. Beyond that, I think that as much control as has been done – I repeat – mainly in the days of the previous government – has left no question unanswered.
As for the other leaders of the parliamentary parties, 19 properties, one of them in Brussels, income 178,585 euros and bank deposits 523,398 euros, declares the leader of the Greek Socialists Nikos Androulakis. Large income over 200,000 euros, 11 properties, shares in 8 businesses and deposits 153,381 euros declares with his wife the leader of the party Mera 25, former Minister of Finance in the Tsipras government, Janis Varufakis.
But also the leader of the other parliamentary party “Greek Solution” Kyriakos Velopoulos declares income around 300,000 euros for 2020, deposits 558,180 euros and shares in businesses. The leader of the Greek communists, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, declares only the income as an MP for 2020 in the amount of 89,769 euros, the deposit of 7,957 euros and four properties with his wife.
