The National Institute of Cultural Heritage, together with the University of Tirana have started the excavations in the village of Rrasë of Belsh where about two years ago some ruins were discovered by the inhabitants of the area.
Although at the beginning of this process, archaeologists are enthusiastic about the discovery which according to them, is a term of the Roman period of the second century.
The project envisages the excavation, conservation and interpretation of the monument making it then visitable by tourists. Archaeologists believe that this monument may exceed national dimensions.
The building is expected to have a special significance for our cultural heritage and will add to Belshi, a historical attraction, in addition to the natural one.
The discovered object is located about 3 km at the northern exit of the city of Belsh, very close to the road axis making it an easily accessible attraction.
