An informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers will take place today in Berlin, attended by Sweden and Finland.
The two countries are expected to apply for their membership in NATO, after the occupation of Ukraine and therefore will be part of the meeting today.
On the other hand, Moscow has said it will see each country joining the alliance as a threat. This would put an end to decades of neutral status by Sweden and Finland dating back to the Cold War.
Today’s meeting is also attended by Turkey, another NATO member, which yesterday, Turkey became the only member state that expressed opposition to the possible membership of Sweden or Finland.
