An economics professor who worked on the same university campus with his wife has been charged today with stabbing her to death at their home in eastern Britain.
Italy-born 52-year-old Dr Antonella Castelvedere was found with serious injuries at the couple’s 260,000-pound home in the town of Colchester at noon on Wednesday.
Dr Castelvedere lectured in English and wrote academically at the University of Suffolk, where her husband also taught.
Ertan Ersoy, 50, originally from Turkey, appeared today in Colchester court accused of murder.
He was an outside lecturer teaching as a visiting lecturer at Suffolk University Business School.
Dr. Ersoy had a degree in political science from Ankara University, according to his online profile.
He also had a master’s degree in economics from Marmara University in Turkey.
Chief Police Inspector Antony Alcock said: “Although we have already filed charges, our teams are continuing to work on gathering evidence. “It simply came to our notice then.
The benefactors had left homage and flowers outside the house, where today police officers were still standing.
A neighbor on the other side of the street told the media: “It is terrible, the woman also had a daughter of hers. Yesterday there were people crying outside the house, it must have been her family. We did not know each other very well, we just greeted each other. “The deceased was friendly but we did not see her often.”
Dr Castelvedere was from the province of Brescia in northern Italy and had lived in Britain for 25 years.
Neighbors described him as “quiet” and quite likable.
Dr Castelvedere’s father, Spartaco, has been the director of agriculture in Brescia while her mother Mina and brother Ferruccio live in the town of Bagnolo Mella. They have not yet commented on the incident.
Police appealed for information on the couple that could lead to the motives of the gruesome event.
