Albania’s Permanent Envoy to the United Nations, Ferit Hoxha, stressed that we are in the middle of a humanitarian tragedy in Ukraine.
Innocent people have been killed in Russian attacks for days, even though President Vladimir Putin says it is a military operation to demilitarize Ukraine.
He called on Russia to stop the attack on Ukrainians and prevent the death of other citizens.
Hoxha stressed that the UN was not created to lead people to paradise but to save humanity from hell, in this case from attacks on citizens and states.
“10 days from where the so-called Russian operation but which is in fact an invasion, we are in the middle of a great humanitarian tragedy, where we are losing lives. 1.5 million have already fled, this is the attack on Russia. The world was put on alert, again yesterday after the explosion at the power plant, which thankfully was quickly extinguished but the fact remains that it is in the hands of the Russians. It must be said that attacking such facilities can have catastrophic consequences for humans. We remind you of Chernobyl.
From what we have heard, we must immediately verify the situation why it still remains dangerous, we suggest to work on this issue to ensure the safety of the facility and ensure that the plant works. We call on Russia to stop attacking Ukrainians, to attack civilians is a crime and it must be held accountable, evidence must be gathered and brought to justice, we support investigations. This council must do what it can to save Ukraine and its people from the hell Russia is leading with its actions. “The UN was not created to take people to paradise but to save humanity from hell.” said Hoxha.
Tensions in Ukraine have risen as we approach the ninth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The two rounds of talks between the two countries were without concrete results, while last night it seems that the thick ice barrier was broken after the delegations shook hands.
It is not yet known what the fate of Ukraine will be, as the third round of talks is expected to take place over the weekend.
