Many believers from different cities of Albania, but also from Montenegro, Macedonia and Serbia have celebrated St. John Vladimir’s Day as every year.
In his church in Elbasan are preserved some of the relics of this Christian saint that is respected among Slavs and Albanians. Believing in his miracles, many pilgrims have gathered for two days in the church of the same name in the village of Shijon in Elbasan.
“We are from Kosovo, Mitrovica, This is a big holiday, very beautiful,” said a believer.
“This is a holiday not only for the Orthodox of Albania and Montenegro, but for everyone. “But above all, these holidays are important for the friendship between the two peoples and the minorities in both countries.” – said a Believer.
St. John Vladimir, who united the two nations, is known for his kindness and for the unification of the two countries. Therefore, this organization today means a lot to the friendship between the two peoples.
The Metropolitan of Elbasan, Slope and Librazhd Andon Merdani congratulated the believers on this day marked for the Orthodox faith and conveyed messages of peace in these difficult times for the world.
The celebration of St. John Vladimir takes place every year on June 3 and 4 as pilgrims from different countries spend the night in the monastery built in honor of the Montenegrin prince.
