Turkey has approved the domestic vaccine against coronavirus while President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to provide the vaccine for all mankind.
Asked today by journalists if Albania will buy this vaccine, the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu said that if “Turkovac” is proposed by the COVAX system where we belong, health experts will review this vaccine.
“We have currently applied for more than 2.3 million vaccines. As of December 31, according to Pfizer, we expect 375,000 vaccines, thanks to EU support. We are waiting for the finalization of the new contract with Pfizer, for 1.5 million vaccines that will come in 2022.
In the COVAX instrument, we are involved as a self-financing country. This includes AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Novovax, Sinovax and Sinopharm, but it remains to be seen. To date we do not have a call from COVAX for the Turkish vaccine, we will evaluate it with experts”.
