Albania’s Ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, speaks proudly of his work in the Security Council, where as Albania’s representative he has strongly condemned the Russian aggression in Ukraine and condemned the killing of thousands of people in the country.
Albania and the United States became the initiators of the resolution condemning the Russian attack. In an interview for journalist Sokol Balla in “Top Story”, Hoxha says:
“I will tell you how I felt. I feel proud every day I come to the Council. This room is my second home. There are two resolutions submitted by Albania and the US. The first resolution was to condemn the aggression, which was vetoed by Russia.
The second resolution for which the Council met on a Saturday afternoon was to transfer the issue from the Security Council to the General Assembly, where then another resolution was presented which was approved by 122 votes..
Albania is preparing to take over the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council. Hoxha emphasizes that all member states have equal rights.
“There are no divisions in the Council, small or large, there are only permanent and temporary “he says.
