A suicide bomber has been shot dead by security forces at the door of a passport office in the Afghan capital, Kabul, a government spokesman has said. The attack struck shortly after noon injuring several people, according to as yet unconfirmed data.
An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman said a suicide bomber was shot dead by security forces as he tried to enter a passport office.
A Taliban member who was present told Reuters that many people had been injured as Taliban security forces had cordoned off the area.
In recent days, after the service reopened after weeks of closure, large numbers of Afghans have gathered outside the passport office in hopes of issuing travel documents to leave the country.
