The 19-year-old twin-bodied twins from India’s Punjab region had been abandoned by their parents but have already taken first job with the state administration.
Another good news for Sohna of Mohna Singh from the city of Amritsar is that they will receive a salary each.
The twins will work as electricians for the state-owned company, which they said is “the job of dreams”.
The twins were abandoned when they were small babies and living in an orphanage from poor families.
The state corporation of the Indian state of Punjab offered them the job, paying them each 10,000 rupees ($ 130) a month.
The twins have already received their degrees in electronics and will work in the supply control room, taking care of the electrical equipment.
“We are grateful to the Punjab administration for recognizing our capabilities,” the twins said.
They had attracted the attention of officials when they visited the training plant and showed interest in electronic equipment.
Venu Parsad, the head of the agency told the daily The Telegraph that they were technically fit for the task.
“Therefore we decided to hire them according to quotas for people with disabilities, which are performed on the basis of sympathy.”
Teachers at their shelter said the two twins had been abandoned since they were two-month-old babies and from an early age showed interest in electronic devices.
One of the teachers said: “They always tried to repair minor problems with electricity or equipment in the institution.”
The twins thanked the institution that had raised them as well as the teachers who “helped us become self-sufficient.”
They added that they would work “hard, with dedication and sincerity.”
The twins were born in 2003 in the capital New Delhi. Doctors said at the time that they had two hearts, two pairs of arms, clothing and spine, but only one liver, one bladder and one pair of legs.
Doctors have so far refused to separate them saying the procedure is dangerous and results in the death of one of the twins.
