He was direct in the message conveyed during a speech before the deputies in the European Parliament, the Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic, held after a large number of meetings.
“The region needs to see that the doors of the EU are open to countries that deserve to be part of the bloc. We should not look at the Western Balkans as a black hole in Europe. “You should know that if we stay outside Europe, the Balkans will become the new Ukraine in a few years, and I do not believe that anyone in the European Union can want that,” he said.
Abazovic stressed that Europe is at a new stage due to Russian military aggression in Ukraine and that it is necessary to make quick and smart decisions, while also talking about the new Montenegrin executive, led by him.
“This government was created with a clear message and goal to move faster in European integration. I think these are historic moments not only for Montenegro, but for all of Europe. “After February 24, the beginning of the Russian occupation of Ukraine, the world is different and more than ever, people in Montenegro, the region and Europe understand that we must be together.”
Abazovic also underlined that the goal of this government is to shift attention from negative topics, such as nationalism and divisions, to problems that really concern citizens.
