The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has expressed its concern over the proposal to increase the price of eclectic energy, where on this occasion they asked the Self-Determination Movement to vote on a resolution to be submitted to the Assembly requesting the cancellation of this proposal by the executive and the Energy Regulatory Office.
The head of the AAK parliamentary group, Besnik Tahiri, in a press conference, except LVV, invited all parliamentary groups to vote for this resolution as it is unacceptable for the price increase to occur up to 100%.
“First of all, what I want to say is that the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo in the debate called the next day, one of the main topics will be the reporting that has been done that ERO has done to raise and double prices, for us and for all citizens of Kosovo, it is unacceptable for someone who has paid 58.52 euros to pay the tariff of 109.42 euros, 100 percent more, someone who spends up to 800 KW who has paid 47.19 euros to pay 74.17 euros. Therefore, tomorrow in this debate we will address other topics, but the basic topic will be energy and tomorrow we will expect two issues, we expect from the parliamentary majority from Vetëvendosje to reflect and vote on our resolution requested by ERO and the Government. which obliges him not to increase the price of electricity, ie to cancel it and this decision not to enter into force“, He says.
Tahiri said that about 700 thousand inhabitants of Kosovo are expected to be affected by the increase in electricity prices, while he warned that they could also protest against this issue.
“According to data and reports, over 200 thousand families are affected. Which means about 700 thousand inhabitants of Kosovo. Has this part been analyzed. Who is this government protecting, the citizen who has been promised welfare or the interest of the corporation. […] As a parliamentary group, as a political entity, we must exhaust all democratic mechanisms, including protesting against this increase and this proposal for raising prices.“, He said.
AAK MP, Pal Lekaj, stated that their warnings about the energy crisis in the summer were not taken seriously by the Government of Kosovo and consequently the citizens are suffering from this crisis.
Moreover, Lekaj, mentions the difficult days that the citizens of the country are going through as there has been an increase in food prices.
“Nas a Parliamentary Group and I as an MP and as a member of the Committee on Economy have warned the Government Kurti and the Minister of Economy Rizvanolli to be careful because we will enter an energy crisis, the answer I received was that ‘this is how to make politics’ and it did not turn out that way but we are having worse days as citizens of Kosovo and especially now where we have a proposal from ERO to increase energy prices by 100%. This is the most serious act done to the citizens of Kosovo and it is the next deception of this Government that intends to deceive the citizens that a part of the citizens will not have an increase in energy prices.“, Lekaj concluded.
Tomorrow, the Assembly of Kosovo starts the spring session with a new session where the parliamentary debate regarding the enormous increase of prices is foreseen.
