Former Torino striker Akeem Omolade has died at the age of 39, while the causes of death are unknown.
He became very famous in the 2000-2001 season, when he made his debut with Treviso in the match against Ternana in Serie B, with fans leaving the stands.
An episode of racism that did not go unnoticed, thus, teammates, in the match against Genoa in March 2001, came out on the field with painted faces in his support, a match in which Omolade would score the only goal with the team and Treviso.
The match ended 2-2, but no one will forget that gesture, in response to one of the most serious episodes of racism, associated with the fan-team relationship. During his career Omolade then wore the Turin jersey, Novara and Gela, among others, ending his career in Sicily.
